Go Green Unit

What

For the next three weeks we will be doing a project to take part in SME’s Go Green unit. Our project will be to create a new game using only recycled materials, or to create a game using PE equipment in a different way. At the end of the unit I will be filming the group’s presentation of their game and the school will vote on which is the best game. The winner of the contest will have their game showcased during our field day in June! Students will be given 2 weeks of class time to plan their game.

An example game would be bowling with 2 liter soda bottles and volleyball instead of using bowling pins and a bowling ball.

Why

Our goals for this project are to learn how to modify old things to make new games, to learn how to save money, and to be active.

Schedule

Week 1 (4/4-4/8): Introduce the project and begin planning

Week 2 (4/11-4/15): Continue to plan, organize a list of equipment

SPRING BREAK (4/18-4-25)

Week 3 (4/25-5/2): Film group presentations

Jump Rope For Heart

February is Heart Month.

During PE the students will be learning how to jump rope and at the end of the month we will be taking part in Jump Rope for Heart, February (21st-25th). Students will be collecting donations for the American Heart Association throughout the weeks leading up to the event. Every donation helps save the lives of people afflicted by heart disease!

Jump roping is a great aerobic exercise that can be done individually or in a group!
